10 Things You Should Be Grateful For Each Day


When you’re always following routines and immersing yourself in work, you tend to forget to reground and enjoy the simple things in life. When this happens, it’s hard to break out of a negative mental space. You may start to feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed! One way to reground, center yourself, and create more positivity is to note all the blessings that are in your life. 

Being grateful motivates you to become a better person because you appreciate everything in your life. Just look around you and you’ll notice that there are so many beautiful people, places, opportunities, and things to enjoy and appreciate! 

1. Being alive to see another day

One of the most common things people forget to appreciate is getting to wake up and see another day. It’s such a blessing to have another day of life to learn and unlearn lessons, connect with people (and yourself), and experience all the little things that create vibrancy and interest in life. While some days it may be hard to appreciate life in general, it’s important to be thankful for everything else!

2. Having a roof over your head and food on the table

You are safe in your home and you have access to food when you’re hungry. These are blessings that should not be taken for granted. Be grateful for your lunch with your family, friends, or co-workers. Also, be grateful for your bed that allows you to rest comfortably each night!

3. The connections you make

It is always important to be thankful that you are surrounded by family and friends. Your family tree can be both biological and chosen; it can extend to close friends and professional connections too. Having an amazing family and wonderful friends means having a group of people who will support you and be with you throughout your life journey. It’s important to be thankful that you are a positive force in their lives as well! 

4. Big and small moments

Being thankful for all the moments in your life, big or small, is extremely important. These moments, having been rough or happy, have shaped you into the person you are today. Even through more difficult times, it’s pertinent to be grateful for the good things that are yet to come. Know that your struggles will make you resilient! While it’s hard to break past dark feelings, you can choose what to wear, what to eat, who to talk to, how to move your body, and if you’d like to start a new hobby, book, or Netflix series. You have the world at your fingertips and each choice you make can enhance the future and make the present moment better for yourself and others. 

7. You have more than enough money

Sometimes, earning enough money to live your “dream life” isn’t feasible. However, take a moment to be grateful that you’re surrounded by other amazing things and people who love you. You might not be a millionaire, but you’ve got a life that’s uniquely yours. Don’t let the act of comparison steal your joy. 

8. Your health and active lifestyle

It’s so important to be grateful for your health! Your body allows you to do so many amazing things. Celebrate and appreciate your health and body as it is now by exercising in a way that feels good and eating good food. Your body moves for you, it fights off infections, it smiles at strangers and laughs with loved ones. Not to mention, it can cuddle with dogs. 

9. Having moments for yourself

Appreciate every moment you have with yourself. Focus on the fact that being alone doesn’t signify loneliness. When you spend some time alone with yourself, you’ll notice ways in which you can grow and become a better person. You’ll also notice how amazing you are and all the little ways you are literally. the. coolest person. ever. 

10. Being able to communicate your feelings

People forget that communication is an essential part of a person’s life. Most of communication is nonverbal –  so make sure you give and receive lots of hugs with friends and family! Be grateful for all the hugs, tears, smiles, and long talks you share with others. We are social beings that thrive on experiencing both personal joy and the joys of our loved ones!
